H.E.R. "My Song" review

I'm doing a review of H.E.R.'s My Song. So, who is H.E.R. actually? H.E.R., whose real name is Gabi Wilson, has been on the music scene since 2016 after she released her first extended play title H.E.R. Vol. 1 on September 9, 2016.

You can purchase or listen to Vol. 1 on Spotify and ITunes. Here are the links for it:

And on June 16, 2017, released her second extended play titled H.E.R. Vol. 2.

You can listen to Vol. 2 on Spotify. Here is the link for it:

H.E.R. is an acronym that stands for Having Everything Revealed. She wants to remain anonymous because she wants to know her by her music and not by her looks or what she wears.

My Song was released on December 29, 2017. It is a piano driven ballad song that refers to her relationship with someone special. She talks about wanting to "sing her song" for her lover singing on the chorus with, "Let me sing my song/ Don't wanna be alone / I know that when I listen/ I find what I've been missing/ Right here in my heart". On the second verse, "When the weight of the world is on my shoulders/ You would take the pain away (take the pain away)/ Through the storm the sun still rises/ With you by my side I'm not afraid", H.E.R. is referencing to how she had to carry the weight of the world on her shoulders, but with the help of her lover, she is finally free and no longer has to live with that burden ever again. I think that this track is so beautiful. From the lyrics to the piano playing in the background, I love H.E.R. so much now that I'm actually a fan of her music. I would this song a 10/10. So, I want everyone to go and support H.E.R. and become a fan of this hidden gem just like me. Listen to My Song on Amazon, YouTube, ITunes, Spotify, and SoundCloud.
