Halsey Clementine review

Clementine (stylized in all lowercase) is the third single from Halsey's upcoming studio album Manic that was released on September 29, 2019, which was also the singer's 25th birthday.

Lyrically, Clementine is about a reference to Kate Winslet's character of the same name in the movie Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and also how Halsey can relate to her.

She opens up the song with the first two lines singing:

I'd like to tell you that my sky's not blue, it's violent rain

And in my world, the people on the streets don't know my name

Then, she talks about going through the motions with the lyrics:

Because in my world, I'm constantly, constantly havin' a breakthrough (Hmm)
Or a breakdown, or a blackout

Halsey is also repeating the chorus lyrics, which could be about her bipolar disorder as she sings:

'Cause I don't need anyone
I don't need anyone
I just need everyone and then some
I don't need anyone (I don't need anyone)
I don't need anyone (I don't need anyone)
I just need everyone and then some (I just need everyone and then some)

Along with the single, Halsey (whose real name is Ashley) released the music video for "Clementine" and it features her brother Sevian Frangipane doing some beautiful dance choreography in an aquarium.

So, make sure that you listen to "Clementine" on Google Play, Spotify, YouTube and more:

And don't forget to send Ashley some happy birthday or belated birthday messages to her.
