Grown-ish Season 2 review

Warning: the following may contains spoilers from season 2 of Grown-ish. Read at your own discretion.

So, last time that we saw our girl Zoey Johnson was in the season one finale of Grown-ish titled "Back & Forth". In this episode, she had to choose between three guys. Yes, three guys, everyone. And they were Aaron, Luka and Cash. Her gal pals Ana, Nomi and Jazz and Sky all tried to help Zoey in choosing which guy that she wanted to be. But, in the end, Zoey chose to be with Luka.

In the season 2 premiere episode titled "Better", Zoey starts her new relationship with Luka while also trying to make her sophomore year better than her freshman. Like, when she called a "cup b***h" at Aaron's party, dated an athlete star then get her heart broken by one, having her Instagram flooded with haters and so on.

Her, Nomi and Ana move into a less-than-stellar apartment off campus and might learn to adjust to each other as roommates. Then, Zoey is in for a shock when she finds out Luka is back from his trip to Paris and he didn't tell her.

Then, in "Nothing Was The Same", Zoey tries to show her friends that her romance with Luka is special and does all that she can to make sure that their photos are tagged with #relationshipgoals on Instagram.

Relationship goals is a phrase that is commonly used to describe an action by a romantic couple that you want to achieve someday in your own love life.

We also see Zoey getting into some more trouble like breaking the girl code with her friends, cheating on her chemistry test (a big no-no) and getting cut off by her father. But then, we begin to see her maturing and making grown up decisions. Applying for and working at her first job in "Can't Knock The Hustle", taking a step forward by deciding not to pursue with design class in "In My Feelings", creating her own fashion major in "Only Human" and stop compromising with her boyfriend and doing her own thing in "Nice For What".

And let's not forget about Zoey's friends and their new romances as well. Ana starts to get serious with Aaron after sharing their first kiss in "Girls Like You". Then, they "get on" in "Body Count". But sadly, they decide to end things in "Tweakin'" when Aaron breaks it to Ana that he is not ready for a serious relationship.

Sky begins to falling for Zoey's brother Junior (Marcus Scribner) in "You Decide". Jazz and Doug goes from having their love tested to breaking up and then eventually making up afterwards. Nomi is in her first serious relationship with Paige Hewson, a former professor from Cal U who helps her with coming out as bisexual to her Jewish parents. They kiss in episode ten and then break up in episode eighteen.

To me, I feel like this season of Grown-ish is beginning to get more realer than it was in last season. They covered so many topics that had us, including me, talking. Such as, mental health, body image and empowerment, what really makes a person a "genius", cultural appropriation and embracing your sexuality.
