Halsey Clementine review

Clementine (stylized in all lowercase) is the third single from Halsey's upcoming studio album Manic that was released on September 29, 2019, which was also the singer's 25th birthday.

Lyrically, Clementine is about a reference to Kate Winslet's character of the same name in the movie Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and also how Halsey can relate to her.

She opens up the song with the first two lines singing:

I'd like to tell you that my sky's not blue, it's violent rain

And in my world, the people on the streets don't know my name

Then, she talks about going through the motions with the lyrics:

Because in my world, I'm constantly, constantly havin' a breakthrough (Hmm)
Or a breakdown, or a blackout

Halsey is also repeating the chorus lyrics, which could be about her bipolar disorder as she sings:

'Cause I don't need anyone
I don't need anyone
I just need everyone and then some
I don't need anyone (I don't need anyone)
I don't need anyone (I don't need anyone)
I just need everyone and then some (I just need everyone and then some)

Along with the single, Halsey (whose real name is Ashley) released the music video for "Clementine" and it features her brother Sevian Frangipane doing some beautiful dance choreography in an aquarium.

So, make sure that you listen to "Clementine" on Google Play, Spotify, YouTube and more:

And don't forget to send Ashley some happy birthday or belated birthday messages to her.

Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus and Lana Del Rey - Don't Call Me Angel review

Don't Call Me Angel or titled in bold "Don't Call Me Angel (Charlie's Angels)" is a song by singers Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus and Lana Del Rey that was released on September 13, 2019. It serves as the lead single off of the upcoming Charlie's Angels soundtrack for the movie of the same name, which will premiere in theatres on November 2019.

Ariana begins to kicks things off on the first verse singing,

Boy, don't call me angel
You ain't got me right
Don't call me angel
You can't pay my price

Then, Miley comes in really hard on this song with the lyrics,

Don't call me "Angel" when I'm a mess
Don't call me "Angel" when I get undressed
You know I, I don't like that, boy
I make my money and I write the checks
So say my name with a little respect

Before she continues on the pre-chorus with,

Do I really need to say it?
Do I need to say it again, yeah?
You better stop the sweet talk
And keep your pretty mouth shut

On the second verse, Grande is trying to explore with her sensual side singing,

See you here with somebody
You sizin' up my body, oh yeah
Don't you know that I bite when the sun set? Yeah

Lana Del Rey finally makes her appearance on the bridge of the track with the lyrics,

I appreciate the way you watch me, I can't lie
I drop it down, I pick it up, I back it off the county line
I fell from heaven, now I'm living like a devil
You can't get me off your mind

Before moving on to the next verse with,

I appreciate the way you want me, I can't lie (Can't lie)
I drop it low, I back it up, I know you wanna think you're mine
Baby, I totally get it, you can't guess so
You can't get me off your mind
We in it together, but don't call me angel

Overall, I love Don't Call Me Angel. Lana's part was my favorite along with Ari and Miley. And you guys have to check out the music video for it as well. In the video, you will get to see Ariana, Miley and Lana dress up as angels. Literally.

Jhene Aiko - Trigger Protection Mantra review

Trigger Protection Mantra is a song by R&B singer Jhene Aiko that was released on September 13, 2019. It is speculated that this track will be featured on her upcoming third studio album, which is rumored to be titled "Chilombo" after her last name. Her full name is Jhene Aiko Efuru Chilombo.

Trigger Protection Mantra is a calm but yet relaxing tune by Jhene with her playing with alchemy crystal singing bowl in the keys of A (third eye), E (solar plexus) and C (root chakra) singing on the first verse,

Calm down
Calm down
Calm down eventually

The singer herself also explains the meaning of each notes in the song,

"The E note will help in oversensitivity to criticism, will support in releasing the need to control, and support the boosting of self esteem," she further explained. "Note of A will support release of nightmares and learning difficulties and strengthen high intuition and charisma. Note of high C connects to the cosmos, to the quantum field in the vibrational frequency of love. Super powerful notes, voicings and Alchemies."

When I first listened to Trigger Protection Mantra on YouTube two days ago, I was completely soothed by the music and the sound of Jhene's soft heavenly voice along with the kaleidoscopic video that went perfectly with the song itself.

You can add this to your meditation playlist or use it for your next studying session, but it is best to hear the song through headphones for the maximum benefits of relaxation.

Make sure that you go and buy or listen "Trigger Protection Mantra" on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music and more:

Halsey Graveyard review

Graveyard is a song by singer and songwriter Halsey that was released on September 13, 2019. It serves as the second single from the singer's upcoming third studio album Manic.

The single's artwork cover, if you look closely, contains the typical typography relating to the album with words such as "H3" and "(A)01". The cover also has the phrase "Follow Me - Follow Me", but so far, the meaning of this line is unknown.

On September 1, 2019, Halsey mysteriously changed her bio on Instagram  to the number 93, which is also a reference to the number of post that she had on her profile page at the time.

Then two days later, on September 3, the singer herself posted on Twitter a pre-save link to the song alongside the track's art cover and release date.

The song starts off on an acoustic note with Halsey singing,

It's crazy when
The thing you love the most is the detriment
Let that sink in

And then it switches into an upbeat pop track on the pre-chorus with,

Oh, 'cause I keep diggin' myself down deeper
I won't stop 'til I get where you are
I keep running, I keep running, I keep running

On the chorus, the singer talks about having a bad mindset while also going into a dark place in her life with the lyrics,

They say I may be making a mistake
I woulda followed all the way, no matter how far
I know when you go down all your darkest roads
I woulda followed all the way to the graveyard

I absolutely love Graveyard by Halsey. It is a certified bop, my friends. I think that the singer is on her way to having a Top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100. I am just saying. Also, if you watch the time-lapse video for Graveyard, you'll see Halsey painting a portrait of her album cover, which was later revealed to be titled Manic, in record time.

This single gets a 10/10 from me. Make sure that you buy, stream and listen to Graveyard right now on all streaming platforms:

Black Panther movie review

Black Panther is a fantasy/sci-fi superhero film based on the Marvel Comic character of the same name that was released on February 16, 2018. The film was directed by Ryan Coogler, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Joe Robert Cole.

Following the death of his father, T'Challa (Chadwick Boseman) returns home to the African nation of Wakanda to take his rightful place as king. But when a powerful enemy named Killmonger (Michael B. Jordan) suddenly appears, T'Challa's mettle as king and as the Black Panther gets tested when he's drawn into a conflict that puts the fate of Wakanda and the entire world at risk.

Faced with both treachery and danger, the young king must rally his allies and release the full power of Black Panther to defeat his foes and secure the safety of his people.

The diversity of black people and the African culture in this film is very stunning to me.
I mean, the different emotions that were portrayed by actors Michael B. Jordan and Chadwick Boseman were just absolutely amazing from my point of view.

I never thought that I would see Michael B. Jordan playing the role of a villain before. Especially, since he has starred in other movies like shooting victim Oscar Grant in Fruitvale Station and Adonis Creed in the Creed films.

I also applauded all of black female actresses including Letitia Wright, Lupita Nyong'o and Angela Bassettt in Black Panther as well.

They are all representation of what Black Girl Magic looks like. They are very inspiring to a generation of young black girls like me. I want to be just like them when I grow up.

And I loved the music along with the production, costume design, the use of computer-generated effects, lots of action and everything else in between.

I was so honored that I had a chance to watch this movie on DVD and experience the African American narratives for myself. And now you can, too. Make sure that you go and buy, rent, and watch Black Panther on Amazon, YouTube, Netflix, Vudu and more:

Cait Fairbanks Something In You review

Something In You is a song by actress and singer Cait Fairbanks that was released September 6, 2019, through CatBeach Music. The track was written by Fairbanks along with songwriters Anna Nelson and Robert Harty.

Lyrically, Something In You is an acoustic song that finds the singer falling head over heels in love with that special someone.

She opens up the song with the lyrics,

I should know better
I shouldn't start this again
Losing sleep but playing every words
I've said to you

Caught in the middle
Between my head and my heart
There's civil war
Keeping score
What are we fighting for?

Cait also begins to describe the feeling that she has towards her lover on the second verse singing,

Your eyes like fire
Through smoke my heart has been cleansed
But I've been jaded and I'm scared to take another step

And then she continues on the chorus with,

I'm out of my mind
'Cause there's something in you
'Cause there's something in you

Okay, you guys. What can I say? Cait Fairbanks' music keeps getting better and better by the minute. The lyrics, the production and her voice on this song is to die for.

Make sure that you go and support Cait's new single "Something In You" on streaming platforms like Spotify, Amazon, Apple Music and more:

Cait Fairbanks - Umbrella (Live Unplugged) review

Umbrella is a song by singer and songwriter Cait Fairbanks that was released on May 17, 2019 through RC Music. The track was written by Fairbanks herself along with RC Cates.

Lyrically, Umbrella is a folk song that finds the singer talking about wanting to make her lover happy again despite being in the midst of a storm.

She opens up on the first verse with,

Find your cup filled up with happiness again
Thank the clouds for cleansing rain
Find forgiveness in your heart so love remains
And find me there along the way

And Cait continues on the second verse singing,

Then our lives can shine so true
Where the shadows are just me and you
Though the sky may not always be blue
I’ll survive the storm if I’m with you

On the third verse, the singer is now encouraging her love interest to see the bright side of things with the lyrics,

Find the beauty in the moment come what may
Leave behind our darkest days
See the wonder in the chance that things could change
Take my hand I’ll lead the way

Before ending the song on the final verse with,

Then our lives will shine so bright
Where the shadows are just yours and mine
Though the sky may not always be blue
I’ll survive the storm if I’m with you
I’ll survive the storm if I’m with you
I’ll survive the storm right here with you

I am officially obsessed with Cait Fairbanks' music. I mean, her song Umbrella really showcases her vocals with the banjo playing in the background.

Halsey & Lido - Tokyo Narita (Freestyle) review

Tokyo Narita (Freestyle) is the collaboration between Halsey and Lido that was released on May 6, 2016. The pair had previously dated before, but now they remain as close friends.

The sounds of the aeroplane taking off heard at the beginning of the song, is in reference to the title "Tokyo Narita", which is also the name of the Japanese capital's international airport.

Halsey opens up the first verse with a nod to Kanye West singing,

So we laid down on the floor next to our brand new bed
Just so we could listen closer to this new Kanye West
But I can barely hear over the music in my head
All these 808s and heartbeats bangin' in your chest

On the next verse, she also mentions Canadian rapper Drake with the lyrics,

Told the driver "keep it goin'," he can run the meter
So we could finally hear Views on some decent speakers

The singer continues on the third verse talking about the Vogue party with,

Now we at the Vogue party and the whole thing's catered
So we said that we'd leave early, get some pizza later
But my hands go down your jeans and you distract the waiter
Until we take it somewhere better like the elevator

Then, Halsey comes in really hard on the last verse singing,

But these days I've dropped the keys to Anthony's Mercedes
We're standin' naked in the kitchen listenin' to Amy
And in those weeks you f***in' lost it cause you just wrote "Crazy"
And it seems like you never listen and I hate you lately

I love this song Tokyo Narita (Freestyle) by Halsey along the production and the lyrics for this track as well. The only thing that I would say about it is that I was the song itself was longer than two minutes and twenty six seconds because it's just, well, you're going to have to listen to it yourself to see what I am talking about.
