H.E.R: H.E.R. Vol. 2 review

H.E.R. Vol. 2 EP was released on June 16, 2017 by R&B singer H.E.R. Also, while you're at it, check out my review on Vol. 1 by clicking on the link you see below:

Every Kind Of Way serves as the opener to Vol. 2. This song is where the singer touches on themes like love and emotion to a guy that she has been having a crush on singing, "Baby, the sound of you/ Better than a harmony/ I want you off my mind/ And on me/ Holding me closer than we've ever been before/ This ain't a dream/ You're here with me/ Boy, it don't get no better than you/ For you, I wanna take my time/ All night", and then describes her undying love for this person with the chorus, "I wanna love you in every kind of way/ I wanna please you no matter how long it takes/ If the world should end tomorrow and we only have today/I'm gonna love you in every kind of way."

Say It Again is where the listeners get a chance to hear a different side of H.E.R. as she describes a feeling that she gets when it comes to being with her man with lyrics like, "Show tonight/ I hit all the notes that I know you like/ You know that I'm a pro when I'm on the mic/ We're already here, so turn the lights off, yeah", and "You had a lot to say/ No more talking/ You can use the mouth in other ways/ 'Cause I want it now/ I want it now/ Now". On the chorus, she sings to her love interest, "And I won't say it again/ Oh, you know I don't get naughty for anybody/ I won't say it again/ Even though this ain't the first time/ I tell you one time/ I ain't gon' say it again/ Time to turn/ What you've been asking/ Into actions/ I won't say it again/ I won't say it again".

Still Down is about the singer questioning the change in her romance with lyrics like, "When you need the time, I won't have it/ I'll try not to make it a habit/ But I can't promise that/ Wish I could do that/ Cause you deserve/ Actions and not words/ And you know that I'm worth/ Waiting for/ While I'm out on tour", and then continues on the chorus,"Tell me right now/ Are you still down?/ Are you still down?/Tell me right now/ Are you still down? (Are you?)/ Are you still down?"

Avenue is about a man deserting his feelings for the singer while also flipping the script on her. H.E.R. begins with, "I liked you better on the first date/ I shoulda said what's wrong in the first place/ I don't 'cause you always takin' it the wrong way/ You won't listen you're too busy playin' 2K", and moves on the chorus singing, "I just turned, just turned down your avenue/ I had to you, but I'm mad at you/ You always say that I got a attitude/ But that's you, you was actin' rude/ I had to ask you if you had a few/ Because you always say that I got a attitude".

You can also watch the music video for "Avenue" down below or on YouTube.

Gone Away breaks down the downfall of a relationship singing, "Say, why I'm lookin' at way/ You ain't do nothin' wrong/ I'm wildin'/ It's five, I waited up last night/ Said you got too high/ I'm tired", on the chorus, she admits that she's tired of her lover not being honest saying, "You don't feel a way/ You're gone away/ You don't listen/ You promised you wouldn't change/ It'd stay the same/ But it's different/ We were much happier when/ It was always happy endings".

On I Won't, H.E.R. talks about her unrequited love for a guy that she has no feelings for singing, "You can't make me love you if I don't/ You can't make me love you if I won't/ You can't change my heart, you're tryin' too hard/ You can't make me love you no I won't, I won't". This song also contains a sample of "I Can't Make You Love Me" by singer Tank.

Changes is about telling the story of what all girls can relate to in the mind, body and soul when it comes to someone that they like. H.E.R. can also relate to something like this as she sings, "Lately, I been going through some changes/ Been running out of maybes/ Boy, I know you're losing patience/ Losing patience/ Losing patience on me". She also shows that she is tired of playing these same games with this guy singing, "Sometimes I get fed up with all the games/ Sometimes you all just act the same/ Maybe I'm the one to blame/ That's just how the game goes/ When you're feeling alone/ Everybody got somebody that they mess with on the low/ Now I just want you to save me/ I just want you to save me, ohhhh".

Click on this link to listen to "Lights On"

Lights On is the final song on H.E.R. Vol. 2. This song where H.E.R. once again shows off her sensual side for her man singing, "It's dark outside/ I'm feeling right with you, oh, you/ Don't turn off the lights/ Can we try something new, oh, new?", and moves on to the chorus with the lyrics, "Leave the lights on/ Leave the, leave the lights on/ Leave 'em lights on/ Leave 'em, leave 'em lights on, on/ Do it side on/ Switch and let me ride on/ Got all night long/ Leave 'em, leave 'em lights on, on, on, on".

I give H.E.R. Vol. 2 a 10/10 because I like how H.E.R. tells this story about the down sides of being in a relationship like finding help to accept losing someone that you love, gaining trust, and also moving on from things that are hard to let go. If you've listened to Vol.1, then you definitely should listen to Vol. 2 guaranteed.

You can go and listen to SoundCloud and Spotify. Here are the links for it below:

Ariana Grande: 2 Years of Dangerous Woman

On May 20, 2016, singer Ariana Grande released her third studio album Dangerous Woman. 2 years later to this very day, the album has since spawned hit singles like the Dangerous Woman, Into You and Side to Side featuring Nicki Minaj, debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart, and was supported with a world tour in 2017 titled The Dangerous Woman Tour. As we prepare for her upcoming fourth studio album titled Sweetener, here are some facts about that you didn't know.

The song Moonlight was about her then boyfriend at the time Ricky Alvarez. Ariana's friend and songwriter Victoria Monet confirmed that this song was about him saying, "Moonlight. That's what Ricky called her one night. I think it was after their first kiss. He waited to kiss her for a long time, and she was really impressed. He's such a gentleman, and the song is a great little bookmark of the start of their relationship". Here is the link arianagrande.wikia.com for more information about Moonlight: http://arianagrande.wikia.com/wiki/Moonlight

On March 12. 2016, Ariana was the host and musical guest on Saturday Night Live. She acted in some sketches, did musical impressions of Britney Spears, Whitney Houston, and Rihanna, and also performed of her songs "Dangerous Woman" and "Be Alright". You can watch some of her SNL videos along with her performances below.

Focus was intended to be the lead single for Dangerous Woman.

Focus was released on October 30, 2015 through Republic Records. The song did peak at No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100, but Ariana decided to switch from "Focus" to "Dangerous Woman" as the lead single for the album. However, Focus was made available as a bonus track on the Japanese edition of Dangerous Woman to her fans in Japan. You can also check it out the music video for Focus below.

Dangerous Woman is Ariana's first album to have a Parental Advisory warning label.

When the track list for Dangerous Woman was released on ITunes, there were 4 explicit songs on the standard version of the album and only 6 songs on the deluxe edition making it the first time that Ariana has ever cussed on any of her songs on this album. Luckily, there is a clean/edited version of Dangerous Woman if you're person like me that doesn't like a lot of profanity.

Dangerous Woman was streamed 1 billions times on Spotify.

On February 2017, Ariana became the first female artist to have two of her albums hit the 1 billion mark on Spotify with My Everything (2014) and Dangerous Woman (2016). After that, both My Everything and Dangerous Woman went on to surpass 2 billion streams on Spotify.

The first song that was recorded was "Let Me Love You" and the last song for the album was "I Don't Care".

So, now that you know everything about Ariana and this album, I strongly recommend that you go and purchase Dangerous Woman on Amazon Music, ITunes, Spotify and Google Play.

Hola, everybody!
I have one question to ask you all. How many of you suffer from headaches or migraines? Believe me, I know what you're going to through, but don't you just sometimes wish that pain would just go away? Well, I went to Pinterest and I found these different natural remedies for headaches that are guaranteed to work. You don't have to take any medicine or nothing like. Without further ado, here is the list of natural headaches remedies that you need to try:

1. Essential Oils

Did you know that you can use essential oils are really good for treating a headache? I did some research on Google about it and it turns out that essential oils are safe and effective when you go to use them. It gets right to the root of the problem where the headache triggers meaning that doesn't take away the pain temporarily, but permanently. You can use different essential oils like peppermint, lavender, eucalyptus, and rosemary just for a headache. All you do is apply the oil of your choice to your temples, forehead, and wrists to release tension and stress. Here's another thing: Try adding 5-10 drops of essential oil to a warm bath or you can follow this recipe by Dr. Axe for Homemade Healing Bath Salts. Here's the link to the article:

2. Natural Headache Remedy Bath Bombs

I discovered on Pinterest that you can make bath bombs for cold and sinus, muscle pain, and now, headaches. This recipe is really easy to follow and make and if you do all of the steps correctly, then you should have the perfect bath bomb for yourself for when you have a migraine. So, give this a try and see if you notice the difference. Here's the link to a website called happy-mothering.com:

3. Have you ever heard of lavender lemonade? That's right, I said it. Lavender lemonade is very popular on Pinterest and this website called food-hacks.wonderhowto.com/ has three different recipes on how to make this lavender lemonade. This drink is also good for anxiety as well. So, here's the link to the website so that you can check it out yourself:

4. Apple Cider Vinegar or Lemon Water

You can learn how to make apple cider vinegar water using these simple steps. It's not that hard to do. Just add 1 to 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to a warm glass of water. Mix it thoroughly and slowly drink this to get rid of your headache fast. If you don't like the taste of apple cider vinegar, then try adding a little honey and lemon juice to the mixture to improve flavor. You can also do the same time with lemon water.

Squeeze the juice from a half of a lemon into a warm glass of water. Again, drink this slowly while it's still warm. Don't drink it cold or else it won't do you any good. You can try drinking lemon water twice daily for better improvement for a headache. Here's the link to the website along with the recipes:

5. Grape Juice for Migraines

I found out on Pinterest that grape juice is good for migraines. This is the article that I saw when I looked at it:

But, did you know that you can make your own grape juice out of the comforts of your kitchen? You're going to need about 7-8 pounds of fresh grapes. Wash and pluck the grapes from their stems. Mash up the grapes using a potato masher. Put the grapes in a pot of water and cover them up with a lid. Once the water begins to boil, then let it simmer on the stove for 10-15 minutes. Keep stirring them so that the grapes don't begin to clump up. Pour out the juice through a sieve into a jar or bottle. Remove the sieve and put the juice in the refrigerator. Discard the residue after that. Here is the link to the full recipe down below:

I hope that you give these natural remedies for a headache a try. You shouldn't have to suffer anymore once you have one or all of the different ones that I've just listed. Enjoy the rest of your day and thank you for your time. Also, follow me on Bloglovin' to check out some of my posts. Just click on the link you see below.

H.E.R. Focus (Feat. DJ Envy & Chris Brown) remix review

I have another H.E.R. review for you guys. This time it's about a remixed version of her song Focus from Vol. 1 featuring DJ Envy and Chris Brown. The Focus (remix) was released on April 30, 2018.  H.E.R. and Chris Brown harmonize together on the chorus of the song singing, Me-Can you focus on me?/ Baby, can you focus on me?/ Me-Me/ Can you focus on me?/ Baby, can you focus on me?" Then Brown exchanges his verse with, "What is this a joke?/ You know I get this money/ So, I guess you can't complain (mm)/ You don't have to be alone/You been running through my mind all day/ Baby, I just want you to let up (ohh)/ Maybe I been a little selfish, I should do better (yeah)". H.E.R. then begin to closes out on the outro saying, "Baby, focus/ Can't you see?/ I just wanna love you, baby/ Look me in the eyes". I love the remixed along with the original version of this song. H.E.R. and Chris Brown sound really good together. I was not expecting this collaboration, but now I'm so happy that it did. Y'all know that I am a huge fan of H.E.R. I could get used to her music because it's so relaxing to your ears along with her smooth, sultry voice. You don't know what you're missing. I give this song a 10/10 Make sure that you listen to Focus (remix) on SoundCloud and Google Play.

Childish Gambino "This Is America" review

If you don't know who Childish Gambino is, then you will after you have read this review about his new song called This Is America along with the music video. Childish Gambino, whose real name is Donald Glover, was on Saturday Night Live on May 5th as the host and musical guest for the show. When he performed this song on SNL, I was like, "This is a really good song. I think I'm going to listen to on YouTube". And the special effects for the performance that he did were amazing. You can go and watch his performance of "This Is America" by clicking on the link you see below.
                                        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m1xkLqd1wd

So, I listened to This Is America on YouTube and I love this song. I have never listened to Childish Gambino's music before. The opening of this song starts off with a choir singing, "Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah/ Yeah, yeah, yeah, go, go away/ Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah". On the bridge, Gambino, with background vocals from rapper Young Thug, talks about how some people are willing to sell themselves just to get ahead, therefore becoming numb to the physical and mental suffering that they face around them singing, "We just wanna party/ Party just for you/ We just want the money/ Money just for you/ I know you wanna party/ Party just for me/ Girl, you got me dancin' (yeah, girl, you got me dancin')/ Dance and shake the frame/ We just wanna party (yeah)/ Party just for you (yeah)". Then the track begins to take a aggressive turn with the lyrics, "This is America/ Don't catch you slippin' up/ Don't catch you slippin' up/ Look what I'm whippin' up/ This is America (woo)/ Don't catch you slippin' up/ Don't catch you slippin' up/ Look what I'm whippin' up". Childish also talks about gun violence and the police saying, "Look at how I'm livin' now/ Police be trippin' now/ Yeah, this is America (woo, ayy)/ Guns in my area (word, my area)/ I got the strap (ayy, ayy) / I gotta carry 'em/ Yeah, yeah, I'ma go into this (ugh)/ Yeah, yeah, this is guerilla (woo)". After I listened to the song, I watched the music video on Vevo. You can watch this video either here or on YouTube.

The video, if you watch it closely, make some political statements about Black America and the culture that we live in. It starts out with a guy sitting down to play the guitar while a shirtless Childish Gambino stands with his back turned to the camera and begins to dance behind the man sitting in the chair. He also shoot him along with the choir members in the following scene possibly making a reference to gun violence. and then, in the next scene, Gambino continues dancing, but this time with  little children as he distracts himself from all of the chaos that's going on around him. It ends with      Gambino seen running away from the police as the video turns into black. This is also reminding some people of the popular running scene from the movie "Get Out" created by Jordan Peele.

Make sure that you go and listen to "This Is America" on Apple Music/iTunes https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/this-is-america-single/1379045975

H.E.R: H.E.R. Vol 1 review

H.E.R. Vol. 1 is the debut extended play by R&B singer H.E.R. It was released on September 9, 2016 by RCA Records. If you already know about H.E.R. from my previous blog posts on When A ThinkBubble Bursts™, good for you. If not, then keep reading about this mysterious new artist.

On "Losing", the singer talks about being in a relationship with someone that she  knows is not going anywhere. The song begins with her estranged lover with her singing, "My ambition is attractive/ My aggression isn't passive/ I promise with you/ The butterflies in my stomach  are active", and then she starts to act desperately for her lover with the lyrics, "They're dancin', I'm feelin' static/ Wanna get closer like magnets/ Your company, I've been feinin'/ I think I've turned to an addict/ I don't get high/ But lookin' in you eyes, I'm lifted/ Can we make this tradition?/ Your kisses make all my doubts go away". On the chorus, H.E.R. sees her romance her lover like her love for music saying, "You only show me love/ When it comes to the music/ It's like when I feel lonely/That's when you start actin' choosey/ I don't wanna keep playin' theses games/ 'Cause I feel like I'm losin'/ I don't wanna keep playin' these games/ 'Cause I feel like I'm losin'/ What we doin'?/ What we doin'?/ What we doin'?".

Wait For It contains a sample of "Say Yes" by Floetry as H.E.R. talks about the celebration of two lovers coming together with the lyrics, "Uber on the way, my phone is chargin'/ He keep callin'/ I wanna pick it up, but I keep stallin'/ I feel some type of way/ It's late at night, and babe/ I ain't get dressed for nothin'/ I ain't put this dress on for nothin'/ So, I'm comin', baby". On the chorus, H.E.R.is singing to her lover saying, "Wait for it, wait for it, wait for it, yeah/ I'ma need you to wait for it, wait for it, wait for it/ Baby can you wait for it, wait for it, wait for it?/ Baby can you wait for it? Wait for it".

Facts is about addressing a lover's reliability and consistency in a romance. H.E.R. is saying that she doesn't care about "fiction" or "opinions" when it comes to having complexities for a relationship with so-called emotional turmoil. Just as long as she's with her man, that's all that matters to her the most singing, "Facts/ You were the one I was missing/ The opposite of fiction/ And that's facts/ Ooh, it's a given/ I don't care 'bout opinions/ And that's facts, facts/ And that's facts/ You were the one I was missing".

Click on this link to listen to "U"

U is about the singer dealing with being stressed and confused because she cares too much when it comes to her man who only thinks about himself, not her. The first verse begins with, "Right now my head is a mess/ Thinking 'bout you got me stressed/  You're just so hard to impress/ Every time that we go out/ You do something to show out/ Played the fool, but I know now/ I always worry 'bout you/ I only tell you the truth/ I'm not like those other girls/ I don't be acting brand new/ Every time that we go out/ You do something to show out/ Played the fool, I know now". Then she mentions that him and her were supposed to be a couple and that she only wants him singing, "It could be "U.S."/  There's too many letters / But it's only you, only you/ Only, only, only you, only you".

On "Focus", H.E.R. is desperately trying to get her lover's attention to her singing, "Me-Can you focus on me?/ Baby, can you focus on me?/ Babe-/ Hands in the soap/ Have the faucet's running/ And I looking at you/ Stuck on your phone/ And you're stuck in your zone/ You don't have a clue", and then she admits that she's not willing to give up on him with the lyrics, "But I don't wanna give up/ Baby, I just want you to get up/ Lately I've been a little fed up/ Wish you would just focus on/ Me- Can you focus on me?/ Baby, can you focus on me?/ Me-Me".

Click on this link to listen to "Jungle

Jungle is a cover song that was made famous by Canadian rapper Drake for his mixtape "If You're Reading This, It's Too Late". This track also contains a reference to "68" by Gabriel Garzon-Montano in the hook. H.E.R. talks about a break from a long-term relationship that she was in. Now single, she is using this break to focus on her music singing, "I'm not ashamed at all/ Still findin' myself, let alone a soulmate, I'm just sayin'/ Feel like we on in the same, our relationship changed/ That or it never existed/ Whenever they say somethin' bout us, you listen".

Pigment is a piano ballad track that serves as the last song on Vol. 1. The singer finds herself dealing with feelings of a one sided relationship. Her partner isn't really a savior, but that's the only thing that's holding her back saying, "Because it's clear I'm getting bigger/ I know you visualize my figure/ I was the one that made you look/ At your old girl and reconsider/ You see me in that black dress/ On the first date/ And I'm causin' frustration in your mind/ Only in the best ways/ Secretly I'm anxious, 'cause the thirst have never been mutual/ It's unusual/ That someone like you thinks I'm beautiful/ It's beautiful, yeah/ What we have is beautiful". On the original version of this song, it only lasted one minute and twenty-six seconds. So, here is the extended version of Pigment just for you guys.

I had just listened to Vol. 1 by H.E.R. on SoundCloud yesterday and I fell in love with the beautiful music project. From the production to the beat and lyrics of each song, I knew that H.E.R. is a really talented artist with a smooth R&B voice. She is definitely a singer that you do not want to go to sleep on. Ever. I rate H.E.R.'s Vol. 1 a 10. I can't wait to listen to Vol. 2 on SoundCloud when I get a chance! H.E.R. is my new favorite artist along with Jhene Aiko, FKA Twigs, and Tinashe.

Make sure that you go and support H.E.R. by listening to Vol. 1 on SoundCloud, Spotify, or iTunes.
