Halsey "You Should Be Sad" review

 

You Should Be Sad (stylized in sentence case) is a song by singer-songwriter Halsey that was released on January 10, 2020. It is the fourth single from Halsey's upcoming studio album Manic.

 

On this country-influenced track, the singer can be heard pouring out her frustrations about a previous relationship. While also, throwing in some subtle jabs about her ex's character towards her.

 

  She begins to open up on the first verse singing:

 

I wanna start this out and say
I gotta get it off my chest
Got no anger, got no malice
Just a little bit of regret
Know nobody else will tell you
So there's some things I gotta say
Gonna jot it down and then get it out
And then I'll be on my way

Then, Halsey starts giving her ex-boyfriend a piece of her mind on the pre-chorus with:

On the chorus, the singer is switching courses about how she tried to help her former lover with the lyrics:

I'm just glad I made it out without breaking down

 

I really like the country approach that Halsey is bringing with this song just like she did in "Finally // Beautiful Stranger". I could never imagine her singing country music until now. And we are just one week away from the release of her Manic album. So, I can't wait to hear all of the other songs that she has in store for us.

Normani "Motivation" review

 

 

Motivation is a song by singer Normani that was released on August 16, 2019. It is the lead single for her upcoming debut solo album, which is expected to be release in 2020. The song was written by Normani along with Ariana Grande, Max Martin, Savan Kotecha and Ilya.

 

Musically, Motivation is a R&B-pop song that finds the singer wanting to keep her lover invested on her. She kicks things off on the first verse singing:

 

 You got that good good, baby‚ don't you?
Got  that good good, baby, don't you?
But  you leavin' solo
Ain't regular‚ that ain't regular
I  ain't gon' keep, keep fightin' for it

 

 Then, Normani talks about making her man feel "motivated" and also giving him some "innovation" on the chorus with the lyrics:

To stay and give it tonight
And, baby, turn around, let me give you innovation
Hey, 'cause I do it so right

 

 So, this was the first song that I had listened to by Normani. Ever since that her and the other Fifth Harmony members announced that they were going to be taking an indefinite hiatus to released their own solo music.

 

I really love this upbeat vibe on "Motivation". It almost makes you want to get up and dance a little. The lyrics for this track are so catchy and let me just that Normani absolutely slayed on this song. And you also have to check out the music video for "Motivation" as well. It is awesome!!!

On "Runaway", Hayley is done with being in a toxic relationship with her lover. And she makes that very clear on the first verse with:

 Then, Kiyoko is begging for her partner's love who also won't stop giving her mixed signals on the chorus with the lyrics:

Let me just say that Hayley Kiyoko is on a row with this hit songs. Runaway is a certified banger with its production and lyrics that will have you craving for more music from the Lesbian Jesus. I highly recommend this artist to anyone who is really into supporting LGBT+ singers like her.

L.O.V.E. Me is a song by Hayley Kiyoko that was released on November 15, 2019. It is the third single for the Kiyoko's upcoming project I'm Too Sensitive For S**t. She also put the lyric video for the single on the same day.

 

 

Lyrically, L.O.V.E. Me is a nineties bubblegum pop track where the singer is daydreaming about a girl that she really likes. While also craving for some love and affection.

 

Kiyoko sings about the things that she would do for her lover on the first verse with the lyrics:

 

I would go to bat and take the L for you (Ah)
But would you do the same for me?
I would go through Heaven and Hell for you
If you're always honest with me (Ah)

Then, Hayley continues on the chorus with:

 

So girl, don't tell me you love me if you don't really want me

The singer also begins to spell out the words "love" and "hello" on the post-chorus saying:

I am loving this lesbian anthems that Hayley has been delivering so far. And the bubblegum pop influence on this track was an absolute success on Kiyoko's part. You definitely need to add "L.O.V.E. Me" to your 2020 playlist.

Justin Bieber "Yummy" review

 

Justin Bieber is back with his brand new song titled "Yummy". It was released on January 3, 2020 along with a lyric video through Def Jam Recordings. This track is the lead single to Bieber's upcoming fifth studio album. The music video for it is scheduled to be release on January 4th at 12:00pm on YouTube. 

 

Yummy is a R&B and trap song that appears to be a tribute to Justin's wife Hailey Bieber. He even calls her as a "bona fide stallion" while also making a sexual reference on the first verse with:

Then, he rap-sings on the pre-chorus with the lyrics:

Oh my gosh, you guys. This song "Yummy" by Justin is a certified bop. I never heard Bieber sing R&B before. I am so used to him singing pop music like he did in his early years as an up and coming artist. I am starting to love this new sound that the Justin has going on. The lyrics along with the production for this track is just awesome. I am dying to see what other tricks that Justin might have up his sleeve.
